"Margot Stoddart of MI Architects, having worked closely with the firm for years, knew that Richard M MacKenzie Ltd would deliver on a project to refurbish a house in Dornoch built by my great grandfather in the late 1890s. The house has remained in the family’s ownership throughout and is to be our retirement home. The project entailed stripping back the original two-storey, stone-walled, house to its bare walls and removal of the timber suspended ground floor. This was replaced by a solid, insulated, ground floor incorporating underfloor heating with insulation to walls and ceiling. Replacement double-glazed sash windows throughout, a new window in the downstairs living room and new front doors were fitted with a shower room replacing the first floor small bedroom to service the two upstairs bedrooms. A single-storey 1920’s-built rear extension was replaced with a timber-clad high-ceilinged fitted kitchen/diner single-storey extension also housing a bathroom and utility room. Throughout the fifteen months that it took to complete the project Lewis MacKenzie and Andrew Deeth of RMM Ltd, and their team of subcontractors, kept us fully informed of progress and were very proactive and professional in always dealing quickly and successfully with any issues that arose. Margot Stoddart’s recommendation has resulted in our now having the retirement home that we were dreaming of. We are also sure that great grandfather (Roderick MacRae) would agree that his legacy now lives on, fit for 21st Century living! "
